xx Loviatar Temple Razed in Neverwinter City
August 15, 2015, 06:11:39 AM by Tails1879_
The following is an article submitted for publication in the Llast Word.

Nightal 27 - HOUSE OF PLEASURE AND PAIN RAVAGED

Citizens of Neverwinter awoke this early morning to the booming voice of an angel, descended into the city from the massive Tyrran army that awaited south of her walls. Announcing his intentions to eradicate a force of evil within the Jewel of the North, the celestial being flew to the Blacklake district and began to destroy the House of Pleasure and Pain, a popular yet controversial place of sanctioned Loviatar worship. Although the temple's head priestess Olya attempted to defend the temple, the summoning of devils forced several guardsmen and adventurers to intervene. Ultimately, the building was destroyed.

The House of Pleasure and Pain was a controversial business that had been approved several years prior. Although the business has drawn criticism for fostering worship to Loviatar, the location of the temple incited far more anger. Despite petitions to Castle Never, the building remained in place for several more years until its recent destruction.

Although many rumours are circulating about the event, the heated debate has also sprung up over allowing such a temple in the city once more among the nobility. While many folk are happy to see the work of the divine striking away corruption from the city, some have argued that such an outsider should not force its influence into the mortal realm over a bathhouse.

Soon after the destruction of the building, the great army that stood outside of Neverwinter marched away and disbanded.

xx Summons System
June 27, 2015, 03:07:08 PM by Neutral_Zone
OMG it's finally here! :o

I feel guilty for putting it off for so long.

Anyway, the new summons system is finally implemented. It's not complete, so don't be surprised if you select anything other than an elemental or an animal and you summon the curse of the naked dwarf.

It is, however, workable. You can access the new menu from the Class Abilities section of the Rest Menu, and the rest is pretty self-explanatory.

Oh yeah, a note: Some folks (mostly clerics right now) will get improved summons; that is, for a certain type of summon, they'll be able to summon a creature one spell level higher than they would normally summon. That said, the exact combination of classes/feats/etc to allow you to get improved summons is specific to each type - I'm not going to spoil them, since it's all rather iffy right now and I might change the way it works.

I'll be adding in more summons (the ones already marked in the menu) as time goes on. For now, though, it's a prototype and I want to make sure there's no problems before I go ahead and make the rest.

If you don't like the new summons or you miss your fenhound (you wuss), you can still use the old summon tokens in the meantime.

There are a couple slots in the summons list with an * next to them. That means I have no flippin' idea what kind of monster to put there, so if you have any ideas let me know.

Also, please provide feedback on how the summons are. Are they squishy? Are they too strong? Do they get stuck? What features would you like to see?

New Features Coming Soon:
- Bonuses for arcane casters with school specialization or focus feats.
- Special tokens for DMs to give to players to 'unlock' certain summon types.
- Undeaders. Grr. Argh. Ungh. Brains.

xx Luskan Trade Embargo Lifted!
August 08, 2013, 05:09:45 AM by NWoutcast
Even despite tensions between the two regional powers the trade embargo against Luskan was lifted. Bradley stated that the benefits of a more open trade option between the two cities outweighs the potential risk. Comments from citizens in both cities are mixed but the open trading is much needed for both cities.

*OOC Note: Luskan is now open for travel from the Bloodsailors and the physical entrances on the road to Miribar.*

xx Llast Word - Prosperity in the North
July 25, 2012, 12:01:44 PM by Kattze
PROSPERITY IN THE NORTH
Less than half a year has passed since the devastating destruction of Neverwinter's core trading district brought the Jewel of the North to its knees.  With the help of the Lords Alliance and unexpected aid from Luskan the city has been rebuilt and shines even brighter than before. Many 'For Sale' signs hang from newly constructed apartments and is a stark reminder of just how many citizens were lost in the blast.

Stronger relationships with those who brought us aid in that dire time have caused a boom of prosperity as merchants and traders have flocked to the city to forge new trade agreements. With the last frosts of winter behind us many citizens are taking the springtime meaning of new life and renewal in a literal sense. But not all signs promise a long spring and deepening summer of carefree prosperity as our lord and his council convene behind closed doors to discuss how our city will pay off it's debt to the lords alliance.

With the number of watchmen severely reduced from the midwinter Furies attack citizens are fearful Neverwinter will choose to reduce the budget for city defense.
"Yes, well we can trust those blundering idiots to make one stupid choice after the other can't we? Mmm.. I have more than a few things to say about those pompous fools . Are you really a gnome reporter? Shouldn't you be designing a new way to clean up one of your failed experiments in a dinghy overly-small den somewhere? What do you mean you're already standing in a... Get out of my shop!" said Sand, a merchant In a dreary corner of the docks district.

Defense cuts are looking a likely decision by the city as crime has fallen in recent weeks. Officials claim crime is at an all-time lower because we are funding the city watch sufficiently and to lower it would mitigate any headway the watch has made in the wake of the destruction and war with the furies.

Other suggested cost cuts include a rise in docking tariffs, which may lower trade as ships choose to dock in port last instead. What citizens fear most is a rise in taxes, having only recently been reduced to levels seen only before the burning of Roid.

Whatever the case the council will be pinching pennies in order to find enough coin to repay the massive debt to the lords alliance, or we could be faced to strike a deal on which large yields of trade goods are shipped off in lieu of insufficient payment.

STOLEN CATTLE
Patrolling watchmen on the east roads have received complaints from farmers that livestock are being stolen from their pastures in the dead of night. One farmer has reported several of his cows were slaughtered in a single evening as if a herd of predators had feasted upon the creatures.
