Problem With Screen Configuration
« on: July 11, 2006, 10:53:39 PM »
When I opened up NWN for the first time in forever, it opened into a small window. Fair enough, I adjusted the screen configuration in the "Video" section, but that merely increases the size of the window. The actual gaming area is still that original smaller square.

Second thing I tried is opening NWN and instead of going in, going into "Configure" and hitting "Accept", which should have set it to 1920 x 1200, and that simply did the same thing.

Kinda scratching my head on this one. Ideas?

Edit: Okay, additional issues. When the game itself actually loads, there's a funky pattern moving around as a "background" to that central playing window, and when the module itself loads (to bring me to the OOC area in LotN, for instance), everything is stretched wrong and warped. What little I knew is even more limited when graphics go wrong.

Open your nwn folder and look for a text file called nwn, inside there should be an option called AllowWindowedMode=1 which puts it in windowed mode, delete it or make it =0.

From what yer saying it sounds like its in windowed mode, other than that i'm not sure whats wrong.

Thanks Mistah T.

Hm, searched for said file and found nothing. Gonna try uninstalling and reinstalling, maybe things fell out of place somewhere along the line.

I think the file Torin is talking about is nwn.ini.

I found that one, and either way a search for "AllowWindowedMode=1" listed anywhere within Neverwinter Nights should still have turned it up, even if it appeared only once. Kind of a bummer, but it's alright. Probably have some updating to do anyway.

Or I might be lazy and wait until NWN2 comes out... ;)

Hrmm.. in the nwn.ini file look for [Display Options] and under it make sure it says FullScreen=1, if it's to 0, change it to 1 and you should be set... I think... :? Worth trying! :P

umm ... did you just add "Fullscreen=1"?

I don't even get 1920 x 1200 as a choice (but that's prolly b/c that option isn't available in windows display options ... monitor settings either).  So, is 1920x1200 something you can choose from the list, or did you just enter that into the config file? Do any other resolutions work properly?

Nope, that's a direct cut/paste. Yep, that setting was selectable from the list (recommended, even), and nope, none of the other resolutions worked correctly.

The uninstall/resintall set everything right again, still not sure what happened but hopefully I won't have to deal with it again.

Thanks for the help, though. :)
