BUILDER FEEDBACK

Okay, we are asking for the players help here... please, take a moment and jot down your thoughts, comments, suggestions, alcolades, what have you.

Our builders put a whole lot of time and some serious effort into the areas that make it to the mod, and they chew their nails wondering if the areas are well received... too powerful.. too weak... nice enough... too laggy... what have you.

We've recently added quite a few areas and there are quite a few more on the calendar...

I can't honestly say I know which builder is responsible for each area... but perhaps we can coax them into throwing in a post and letting us all know.

I do know that recently SideFx re-vamped the Minos... added some neat content, a store even... and some really hard monsters... 80% magic resistance??? Eeeep!

Torin gave us some new forest area by the Zhents (yeah, I am geographically challenged and not logged onto the server atm) with some mean axe weilding (amongst other things) bandits... that I have fallen to more than once now   But the area is pretty IMO, so its okay to die there...

Torin also revamped the Drunken Pony.

Pink tweaked the Duergar again... and another area.  *blushes at her poor memory*

Wynter of course redid our Llast... and is still working on it to show "stages" of rebuilding.. with the completed Llast having already been built (and waiting) by Torin.

Oscer had the House Forgotten added not too long ago, I know it is used OFTEN... any feedback on it would be welcome too.

Same with Talies Ant Area.  I see a huge span of levels in there... from 4-12   .  When I go in at 4th.. I am owned...  :(

Cosmic redid the Lake Stillness area... got to love those attack pheasants!  Mmmm Pheasant Under Glass... and I personally love the add of the additional harpies... good xp those lil ladies!  And the area has a nicer look...

Also redone the Hilly Pass area and added a Hilly Pass - Brigand Lair below it... Be careful and note your surroundings, you can make it easy for yourself passing through there, or you can hit a few nasty ambushs. ;) Not a very used area as it tends to be out of the way, but for those interested in seeing it its west of the Last Inn.

Redone 'The High Road - Swordmountain' area and added some nice scenary and available player housing.

Blackford Road should also have a small change to it, aswell as a new area connected to it with a nice waterfall. Only really good for a roleplay area, very small. Some issues getting it in during the last update, so i expect the next should see it in. :)

By this weekend or next, we should have a new Lake Stillness available on the server, which im very happy to be done with, it was long in production. 32 Unique creatures, 12 areas and new loot - so all you epics be ready to get stuck in there and see if you can take it on, this isn't a solo area so be careful. :D

Port Llast - the final version - as Chyelle says, is under construction, i've pretty much finished it but im making some last minute changes now that i can focus my attention on it again.

Once these are out of the way, i'll be focusing my attention on two new dungeons i have rolling around in my head, focused for level 11-15 and 15-19 - this is all estimated. I won't be spoiling any of the surprise, so you'll just have to be patient and see how things go. Hopefully it wont take forever, though. :)

On a final note, please let me know if anything i've revamped has become too powerful, as i can always tone things down. I'd like to know how the areas are blending into the server. Thanks

Stillness Forest and The Harpy Cliffs were lightly eye candied by me, but the guts of the spawns, with random encounters was done by Sidefx! The quail was my idea. Sorry they are so hard to hit.  :?

I found myself in Drunken Pony's basement the other day with no way to get upstairs (to the common room).  ... not sure if that's fixed now since I haven't been IG very much (or maybe it was intentional).  But basically all the doors needed keys and I only had one at the time.

I gave Cosmic a little feedback last night on the Harpy Cliffs.  It was a very pleasant suprise, and made for a bit of RP ... a story about harpies luring ships into the trecherous coast, and a lighthouse made to warn them away.  (no more than a couple sentences, but it woulda been more had I not been so tired).

Cien had less pleasant suprise in Zhent Forest when she went skipping into the woods ... she quickly came hobbling out, feinted, and nearly died.  But she recoved (as did Kiki ... who somehow always seems to miracuosly escape life threatening situations).  Then Cien had a great time shooting those twizzles [bandits] in the bum as they bent over choking on the noxious fumes of Cien's "skunk magic" while Kiki (immune to skunk magic) flew in to exact death by pin pricks upon them.  Also, the pixie duo had a good time of luring them over nasty traps.  It was visually pleasing as well.  Good job.

Sorry, I haven't seen any of the rest as yet.

oh yeah, saw some of the coast Torin (re)did as well.  Good job there too ... Mz & Lysander will certainly enjoy that area (if I ever finish creating the house before).

Abraxas, the basement of Drunken Pony is a place only accessible by rogue characters or those given a key by Garak... There is a means to get a key from some of the NPCs about without DM interaction, i leave that to yous to figure out. ;)

Sidefx was kind enough to connect the basement to the sewers for me, so... Basement is a dodgy place, you get a mug over your head, i wouldnt start crying. Get stuck into the bast**ds as that place is generally run by cut-throats.

Hoping a DM will run a quest with Garak, which will allow him to reward them with a key so as they can access down stairs at will - but thats completely upto them, just an option - as i said, there is another way without DM help.

Eh, haven't been all the way down into the House Forgotten lately, but when I used to go there the end boss is to simple to beat. She's way to big and doesn't fit through the door, and she won't follow you down the stairs it seemed, giving parties the chance to make a run for it, rest/rebuff/blah, blah and go at her again.

I talked to Oscer about it in the OOC area, maybe give her the phase? spider thing where she can teleport to different sections of the room? Or...just take out those two doors...

Also, regarding the House, the Chamber thing you can go into by breaking that seal, those spiders seem to be weaker than the dire spiders...since my characters have been killed dozens of times by the dires and never by the glowy things down there, maybe...buff their stats as well?

Just my opinions, I'll keep feeding them as I remember areas...

(And thank you for your honestly, sad that only one person came to me about it)

Will there be an updated sign when Torin's new Lake Stillness project comes in? I'm looking forward to some payback at the end.

Stop adding new areas. Make the ones you have more dynamic and responsive.

Add lore to the world to explain these locations that for the most part have no meaning or historical information available.  This can be done via npcs as well as interactive objects that can be examined via conversations that involve lore and intel/wis checks.

Add NPCs with more then 10 pages of dialog that responds to player race, class, deity, and age.

Create environments that change depending on character actions.

Create situations that invoke moral delima.

Change the locations of preset traps on a regular basis.

Change the location of loot markers on a regular basis.

Change encounters to reflect creature growth reduction or migration.

Implement a mini-boss of the week that changes every 7 days in random areas.

Change areas that are heavily trafficed to reflect increased fortifications by the denizens the players attack.  Reduce fortifications in low traffic areas.

Make places for player to stock pile resources and save the amounts via the external database and allow playeers to use these resources to build or rebuild structures within the world.

Allow PCs to determine what areas are modified by their actions.

Hmm I could go on.
God thinks you're a waste of flesh.

People normaly PAY monthly fees for that kinda service.  5.99 a month is my going rate.. that'll fly, yes?  Honstly, those would be great.  But I'm not about to quit my day job to see it all done.  Dunno how the others feel about it, but do remember we're human.

Area's are being updated.. very, very slowly, but again, we work for free.. heh.

Edit:  That.. sounded a little harsh; maybe even a little bit of an excuse.  But meh!

I've done it and with a smaller staff.  Need three basic things to make it happen. Passion, motivation, and vision. ;)

What Airyn suggests, and I'm 150% in agreement with her here, can be done with way less time than you imagine, since it's basically revamping and adding depth and life to the existing areas, building new areas from the scratch takes longer in my opinion. Say every builder dedicates one hour a week to it, just one hour, and I think it could be done, tons of time are needed for new areas, the changes to the existing ones can be introduced gradually as time allows.

Unfortunately i'll no longer be revamping existing areas, yous have no idea how much chaos it costs whenever you work on an area that has been on the server for years, people complain that its changed - and going through all the work, only to not have DM permission for the changes made in the end, is unbelievably demotivating.

I'll be adding areas, though, 'til i'm asked not to anymore. Few should be in soon enough, just a wee bit busy at the moment... But yeah, im in agreement with Airyn myself, its something i will work on to include in my areas. :)
