For some reason since last night after I tried relogging, I can't get into the server.  When I log in I go to my characters (their portraits and stats don't show up) and then when I enter there's just a black screen.  This happens on both my PC and laptop, and I can get into other NWN servers. So I was just wondering if anyone had any idea why this could be.  Especially since I have to work in the library for five hours tomorrow and it'll be really boring if I can't get on the server.

Try resetting your router by unplugging it.  It's what I've done the few times that same thing happens to me.

Well I'm actually on dial up while at school, since they block all ports for their high speed connection.

No promises, because NWN uses UDP (like most games, because it runs so much faster without any of the TCP error correction), which may be totally blocked, but try this.

Open your nwnplayer.ini file in the NWN directory.  Scroll down to the [Profile] section.  You'll see Client Port=5120, most likely.  Change the 5120 to either 80 (the HTTP port for webpages) or 53 (used by DNS for webpage name resolution).  With any luck, these will be such high-traffic port numbers, they'll have left them unblocked.

Edit: You may still not be able to see the server in your list, and have to use direct connect to get there.  Toss a ping to lotn.info to get our IP.

But I'm using dial up internet, not theirs to play, and I can get into other NWN servers, so it can't be a port problem can it?

Oh, thought you were using the uni, not the dial-up.  Sometimes, providers just lose connection with others for a time, buuuuuut... Let's try the usual fare.

Thing 1:
Open Internet Explorer.  Tools menu, Internet Options, General tab.  In the middle is Delete Cookies and Delete Files.  Push both.  This probably won't help, but its a good fix for lots of other internet problems, and is always worth doing when it gets flakey.

Thing 2:
Start Menu, Run, the "cmd", hit OK.  At the command prompt, type "ipconfig /flushdns".

Now that the basic rinse is done, do a "ping lotn.info", and get the IP address.  Now, try a direct connect with that.  If ping works, but direct connect doesn't, we have a better idea where to focus our efforts.
