NWN2- Ability bonuses don't stack.

Thought this was an interesting thread.  Apparently seperate items, spells, special abilities that grant a bonus to the same stat won't stack.  So, for example, if you have bull's strength, ogre gauntlets, belt of storm giant strength, and barbarian rage all active, only the storm giant belt will effect your strength.  How different/big of a nerf is that?

I kinda liked the stacking, even if it isn't all PnPish... If you have armor that boosts "Move Silent", and you add boots that does the same, I'd like it if it makes you even -more- quiet.

Nice - a couple months ago they were saying it would be the same as in NWN.  I've been longing for a more pnp-like implimentation for quite some time.  *big thumbs up from me*

Incidently, it makes building and keeping things "in par" with each other quite easier if you don't have to try to take into account all the possible variations of player character power.  Hard to explain, but for me it makes things considerably easier to keep things consistantly interesting for all character/player power levels.  Anyways, I'm happy - enough said. ;)

Looks like this only applies to abilities, but skills will still work the way they do in NWN... Boooooo!

I will keep my hopes up that Obsidian will implement this correctly.

It'll stop those 32-36 INT wizards on the server at least :P Maybe our ability scores will actually mean more than our items

You have to be kidding...?
Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Crom... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!

To me that just means no skill-boosting items should be used, or extremely scarcely. As a matter of fact, they should give less than the Skill Focus feat does (meaning 1 or 2) and be conveniently available for only one type of item so one can't stack them.

Not a bad approach.  Something I'd be game for.
