I still say learning about magic scrolls is the equivalent of learning magic. Rogues shouldn't have any way to do that. Bards... yeah I can justify that a bit. But rogues? Really?

In my PnP games at home I require people to take a feat to use UMD for every individual item type. Wanna use scrolls... take 'Use Magic Device: Scroll', and you can use scrolls that way. I do that ONLY because people sometimes like using it.

Besides... I wish UMD was treated like it is in PnP and have the caster level of the item be part of the check. And no 'Taking 20's'. It would make those CL 17 Flame Weapon scrolls a half decent DC 37 instead of the 27 it is now. Oh... and if you miss by 5 you suffer a mishap like... I think 1d6 magical damage to yourself per caster level of the item.

Besides... shaking a wand and 'Activating Blindly' is not skill. It's reckless. I hope those rogues set themselves on fire like they deserve.
