The arrows I'll grant you, especially if play AA... Can't imagine many people ever buying the Stone eater ring. Where are you going to get stoned? Beholders might do it with an eye beam ray, but they stuck those in a high level dungeon where the DC's are too low to pose a threat. Yuan-ti at the end of tower of doom will cast it as well, suppose you might get the ring for that.

I'd call dungeon stagnation the bigger problem. If new areas were occasionally introduced with older ones revamped, or simply done away with, it would be a great boon.

At least the death system is relatively lax, huh?
Learning respect for traps is a good thing. Might actually enhance the value of rogue levels.

You can find exceptions to pretty much everything in the corpus of d&d books(they have to keep their writers busy after all), doesn't mean that all of those ideas are good ones or well thought out... there's even a rogue prestige class that gets to sneak attack undead, for instance. Careful what you read in the d&d books.

Agree with Zodi and Goss about a wipe. The best time for one would be after the death changes that were talked about a while ago went into effect. Then building up an epic might mean something.

This will also make clairaudience and true sight more of a factor, as it should be, if you have access to those spells. I think they stack even.
It's just too bad this issue is finally being addressed now after all these years.

I know I've killed the rak at the end of Zhents, the lord scion room, with a blessed bolt, though I did make sure to run in invis first and dispatch the thing. Someone commented "shouldn't there be a rak in this room". It was funny.

If there were more things worth buying gold hording wouldn't be such an issue.

One has to respect Japanese sensitivity on the issue, but the premise is that the world has already been nuked, and you constantly set off small nuclear blasts anyway with the mini-nuke catapult thing. Surprising they would allow the game to be sold at all.

Weird. They would have to change an entire plot direction, dialogue and everything, to pull that off for the Japanese version.

I've not actually read the Howard story the Red Sonja character is based on. Should do that. The 80's movie may have been terrible, but the Howard stories are generally very very good... Kull, Conan, etc...
