Haven't you people got better things to do with your time? I hear there's monsters that need slaying down south of Neverwinter.

DynDNS's recent hijinks have forced another change of address for us.

The direct-connect address, as of 5 May 2012, is

Thanks, Outcast, for getting this set up for us again!

Instead of "Teleport To Me", consider editing the transitions with the toolset, and adding on the "tsu_ontran_assoc" script to the OnAreaTransitionClicked event. This fixes the door so that your summons and other critters follow you through.

Since we don't know when, if ever, the Master Password servers for NWN will come back online, we've implemented an alternative fix.

The first time you login to the LotN server, we will record your CD Key. (Just the public CD key, actually - we can't jack your private key.) From then on, your login will only be valid from that CD Key. If some nefarious villain (or you, even) tries to login with your account using a different CD Key, that person will be insta-booted.

"But wait!" you say. "I have more than one CD Key that I actually use!" Not a problem. You can activate up to 7 CD Keys for your account. To do that, you must login using the initial CD Key, then go to the Rest menu. You'll see an "add CD Key" option on there. Pick that, then logout. Switch to your alternate CD Key version of NWN, login, and the new key will be added to your valid list.

If you somehow get an invalid key associated with your account, the DM staff has a way to clear you out and let you start over. Just contact us via a forum post.

With this new system going live, we've been able to do away with the need to password-protect the server. Huzzah!

Please report any problems via the Bug Reports forum.

(FULL DISCLOSURE: I'm trying to get you to vote for something that benefits me - if you hate that sort of self-promotion, stop reading now kthx.)

Some of you know that I went back to college last year. I never finished my computer science degree the first time through, and decided it was finally time to do it. Working as the head scripter here at LotN inspired me to pursue a degree in Simulation & Game Development. I'm still a couple years from graduation, but a few months ago I landed a part-time job writing an iPhone app.

The app is called JouleBug, and it's all about helping you save money on your power bill, as well as taking a little stress off the planet. Our brand-new release is available in the Apple App Store this week AND we're entered in the "Apps for the Environment" challenge, held by the EPA.

I'm pretty proud of the work that I and my co-workers have done, and would like you to take a look and give us your vote! Voting takes less than four minutes at and must be completed by Oct 7th.  Make sure you click the "Vote" button - sharing on Facebook or Twitter doesn't count towards the contest (although sharing is appreciated!) In fact, encourage your friends to do the same if you are inclined.
If you have an iPhone, the app is free so head to the App Store for a copy of JouleBug. And if you have another kind of smartphone, well, be patient - we’ll get there. You can keep up with us at

Weird. The server responds to the remote desktop, looks fine. Maybe a Gamespy or firewall problem. Don't know if I can fix it remotely, and my passport's now expired so I can't go there and work on it in person. :(

Reset done, go play.

And I'll try to get those scripts pulled out and sent to you in a couple days.

Now I get the feeling I turned up to the house party six months too late. I have a six pack of beer under one arm and I brought a mate along but almost everyone else is partied out. The DJ stepped out for a break and the playlist has stopped.

I view the situation as more along the lines of "most of the people who built the house and those who grew up in it have moved out." Kattze, our current host, was an original builder of the module from back in 2002. I joined the server community in 2005, and the staff in 2006. It's a nice house, but it's pretty old now. Many many people, including myself, have put a lot into building it. The players and DM's that have been here through the years have made some great memories for all present. But now it needs new life - other people to move in and make a home for themselves here.

I like the idea of the old place continuing to rock, but I'm also comfortable with the thought of boarding it up and saying farewell. If y'all decide to keep it open, I'll still be on call to unclog the toilets and help with light remodeling if needed.

Every so often, the server crashes in a way that thwarts the auto-restart tools. This was one of those times. Thanks for letting us know. The server is up once again, for your adventuring pleasure!

The Gamespy server outage is an effect of the Bioware forum hackage a couple weeks ago. Here's the last official message I could find on it, from Aaryn Flynn at Bioware. It was posted on June 23rd, I think:

Quote from: Aaryn Flynn
Due to the recent hacking of our legacy NWN servers we have disabled the NWN master server which manages game authentication. We are currently retooling our NWN authentication process and will have a new server up as soon as possible.

We appreciate your patience while we make these improvements to our systems.

According to the debug info, nothing went wrong.   :(

It appears that the server reset function isn't reliable, or maybe it isn't reliable when no one is actually connected. Sorry, it's not readily fixable.

Bother. Well, I put the time left before reset on the main page of the rest menu. And I added some logging to help me figure out why the auto-reset sometimes doesn't. Meantime, the server's been reset so go have fun.

It's a Kattze problem. Server isn't reachable remotely. I'll send her a note.
