Post by: ObViews on February 19, 2006, 11:20:00 PM
Here are some overrides for those interested in enhancing the looks of the game. Please add links and descriptions of overrides here, it's easier to navigate when in a single thread ;)

The format is the following

So here goes..

I wouldnt use the ceilings if your planning on going to the werewolves...it will crash you every time and its a pain finding the ceiling files and delete them one by one...

any chance you've got a screeny obviews (of the ceilings override/hak) ?  I don't want to install it due to the crashness of it, but would like to see the difference.

I don't think we'll sticky or announce this thread as these are not esential files, and as far as we know no member of the staff has tested them yet. They are more cosmetic. But thanks for the heads up! Some of those images are really amazing. Eye candy is good.  :D

Had the hands one for some time, its a good'n.  Though, it dosnt work with CEP hands, so you'll find your self avoiding them.  Heh

Though, does the alternate moving one make it so they run with the blade in hand as if nothing was there? (like jogging, pumping their arms) as they did -before- HotU?  Or is it just a laxed posistioning?

I think it's the pre-hotu "I've got no giant blades in my hands" running.

That's the one. And btw, if anyone else has links to interesting override stuff, do post it here! :)

Can this at least get moved to the information thread so it doesn't get lost?

Guess not... :(

And yes I should have started the thread in the Information section. I had no idea where to put it at first, however.

Does anyone have a link for that colour override that makes the NWN colour palette less butt fugly?

I lost my override folder when my hard drive died. <.< >.>

That's one thing I can't seem to find anymore. I think Lishi has it, if the website of her old server is still up.

Oh, I thought you meant new voices/sound files :(
And this thing seems to be old... 2002... NWN v 1.29... There are newer voiceset.2da remakes than that with all the NPCs from the expansions, or does that one has them too?

Natural colors for caves (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=6604): It's both a hak and an override(different textures for the cave/mine tileset)(screenshot (http://nwvault.ign.com/fms/Image.php?id=65657))

Thanks a lot!
It's always a pleasure to come to a new place and see that your work is already recommended for use there.

I've had these overrides in for a couple years, so I'm a bit sketchy on the details. But anyway here are a few more for the list:

Dress override, gets rid of hump back I think, but it may also be the cause of the robes floating up while crafting.  Only happens with crafting though, after that things look fine:

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Models.Detail&id=206

Alternate colors override. Makes the colors look nicer and adds texture to the flat black (or atleast something in my override folder does :)):

From what I've read, having the color override after NWN patch 1.67 is a really bad idea.  It should probably be removed, as some of those fixes were incorporated into the patch anyways.

Okay... It seems the hand override, all the files, are corrupted, no matter how many times I download it.

So, anyone know what utility to use to open a .hak file, since these can't be put straight into the override folder?

[Your Neverwinter Nights folder] \ utils \ nwhak.exe

Use at your own risk.

I stumbled into these while browsing the vault.

Here's the link to the city override I'm using, I'm liking it so far.

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=models.Detail&id=319

This one is a forest floor override I found too, looks interesting, different at least.. more like a forest and not a mattress of dried leaves.

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Textures.Detail&id=53

Make sure to download the TGA version of that one.. all you have to do is extract them to the override folder and you're done.

As for the hands override, I'm using this without any problems at all:

So I downloaded the "Jyro" pack with all voicesets for male and female...
It works fine in character creation but as soon as I was IG she was like...a mute. No voice at all.

...Help?

Yes I can confirm this hak has probably quite a high potential to crash a module. It happens when you enter any caves area with a doorway or a door transition placed in any four corners of the tileset (or so I have heard this is the cause)

While I dont know this is true, I do know it crashes you, ive experianced it first hand. You may find entire areas of the module are no go areas. Ive stopped using this alltogether since.

Nudging beacause it's worth it.

Lord of Worms' Creature Override now enhances ogres, ettins and earth elementals (on top of the basic orcs, goblins and undead).
Download link in first post.
