The ring because it never hurts to be prepaired, it's .1 lbs that may some day, in one rp situation or another, proove usefull.  Same reason why I've bothered to buy gems of brightness (Many creatures with darkvision have to make a check against being dazed by sudden lights, got any pc drow enemies? I do!).  There's crap to spend your money on, you just have to have the mind to buy it.  But even then, its still finite.

If there were more things worth buying gold hording wouldn't be such an issue.

Funny thing is, there's PLENTY to buy.. All of my high level chars are carrying just under their weight limit in little do-dads or tricks purchased.  Some of which were fairly expensive.. problem is, the server; any server for that matter has a finite supply of goodies to buy.  Hell, even the game limits what could be put out there.  The stores hold anything from a gem of light to a ring of stone to flesh.  Tangle root, poisons, magic arrows; various potions for the more mundane shoppers.  Essentialy, anything nwn allows can in one form or another be found on lotn (That has been found withen the rules..).

Even if you threw every last item in the loot drop into the stores people would still, eventualy (if not already) have nothing to buy; again begin hording.  Well, untill the 13th person drops half a mill in the bucket for Llast and the town is STILL somehow a tiny spec in the mud (Someone's got to be lining their pockets there   ).  In a game like nwn, yer never going to solve that problem, well, not on a high level server at least.

Buuut.. I rant.  Banking system pointless. End point.

Whats sad, is given a good lawyer, ensurance; a typical small claims court judge is that guy could have gotten away with paying with the spider.  Ah.. At least I'd think they could, if some idiot can ram a gate, go over tire spikes; into the side of the building and win a lawsuit because there were no warning signs.  :?

There are, in fact, four warnings signs now.

Naw, yours really wasnt.  Mine is full of foul langauge, a disgusting theme; the like.  Like that guy's whole series of songs though, pretty funny.

Though, proper society would turn a nose up at us both for these posts.  Me thinks.

Bug Reports / The Dex Bug
« on: January 10, 2009, 08:15:48 PM »
Ah.. dex.   That'd be one bug in a long, long list of bugs.  Between invisible creatures/players negating your uncanny dodge (IE you lose your dex for the first two rounds.) Web nerfting your dex to shite untill you can relog.. well wait.  It isnt the only spell.

Mind fog leaves the -5 (10?) saves effect untill you can be restored.  Curses leave the negative status effects, level drains never fade.. ability score damage of any kind is permenant regaurdless of the source, etc.  Entangling roots can do the same thing, by the by.. ugh, well.  If someone can find the magical scripting line that fixes lingering status effects, you'd be a god among heroes.

You can find exceptions to pretty much everything in the corpus of d&d books(they have to keep their writers busy after all), doesn't mean that all of those ideas are good ones or well thought out... there's even a rogue prestige class that gets to sneak attack undead, for instance.  Careful what you read in the d&d books.

Class? Shite son, there's a FEAT that lets you do that.  And it's d8 on top of that, instead of d6.  Also feats that allow a ranger to crit undead, constructs; anything else along with dealing the bonus damage of a scout.  There's a class that lets paladins commit evil deeds in the name of the greater good (Gray Gaurd -- I actualy love the rp of that one), torture, murder.. whatever it takes to ensure the mission is done right.

I'm a touch off-topic though.

In the end I'd say use yer damn noggin on this'n.  Sometimes it's best to fight fire with fire, and its your choice to walk that line.  So long as you didn't actualy try to raise the dead as undead.. THAT would be a strait slap to the ol' emo paladin's face.

Bug Reports / Player-suggested NPC nerfs
« on: January 04, 2009, 01:18:40 PM »
So I wasn't sure where to post this.  But I figure this is as good a place as any that anyone can access to report mobs that need a nerfing to match the stealth changes.  Post'm if you see'um

The Trolls; perhaps a few other mobs in the Stillness Ruins (Karla's digs) need to to have their eyes poped with a nerf hammer.  BEFORE the item nerfs the pygmi-licking fart sniffers would sometimes spot my 25th level stealther, with a 14 dex mod; max ranks if I wasnt wearing a few stealth items.  Hate to try and sneak up on them now.

Player's Corner / Upcoming Stealth Changes
« on: December 31, 2008, 09:53:45 AM »
Lot of hurt over this, and meh, I can honestly see some of it.  But they're fairly selfish point of views, from where I'm standing.  I lost.. lets see.. Coreun has been on the server sence day one, always a spot/listen/MS/hide whore.  I've spent the.. five? yeah, more than five years building up the related gear.  And in one day, I lost it -all- (and beleive me.. that gold amount wasnt close to compensation, but meh!).  It hurt, yeah; but I saw the fairness to players to come and let it go.

But you know what?  How many of you had half your feats invested in spotting and stealthing in addition to gear?  Coreun has spent -EPIC- feats on it.. which were honestly worthless due to the gear out there.  Now if you want to be the shadowy badass or the famed eyes and ears of camp you can be unique in that goal by simply investing feats (IE the fighter next to you won't be rocking a 50+ spot because of his years of farmed spot gear. T_T)  Feats and char levels should define a char, not their gear.

On a side note, taking away the spot gear nerf's Sakes chances of spotting you pretty badly.  Formerly his typicaly caster chars could stack 50ish spot/listen from gear; now they can't.  The only way to get those skill points now is by playing a class who has the points, or heavy feat investment.. as per mentioned above.

Open yer eyes mates, this is a good thing.  Even if it hurts (Good bye ye olde Cat Suit)

Story Board / Information Please!!!

(( No, one of my chars did NOT do this.   ))

The Sanctuary of Nature (off the Hilly Pass) can no longer be called as such.  A once vivid, and beautifull grove is now decayed in a odd form of rot.  The green leaves and grass have all turned a gray-ish brown; have become brittle -- shattering when touched.  That which wasnt morphed into the delicate lifeless state was turned into a pile of compost, more or less.  The intirety of the grove now stinks of vegitation left to rot in the sun for days on end.  The former wild-life of the sanctuary have all been made into a mockery of life, walking corpses.  They move jerkily, slowly.. and as the days pass will become increasingly dried out; mummified.  Easily dispatched.  The Arch-druid's stave lays shattered at the base of one of the formly proud trees; it is in that spot that the decay seems its worse.

eheh.. yeah.  A mild buff to roguey types now that they don't have to wear their stealth gear to remain undetected by every tom, dick and joe.  In my DM'n time I'd see folks who had the 50 skill point cap in gear in all four catagories, but no or few actual ranks.  This change is win..

Now if only we could be rid of greater sanc per day cloaks.. /cough. (A single item that 100% nulifies any detect build, not a number of items.  :? )

Mexico was on and off again banned and not banned for the duration of my own time.  Though I'd have to say four of the five years it was off limits.  Dunno if that whole bounty thing for US border patrol has passed, but it brought trouble on anyone with a military hair cut, thats for sure.

Meh, more hassle than its worth from what I can tell.  You can get shit faced in the states with better tasting (And gardia lambia free! -- unless you're in TX) water to help clear your hang over.
