General Discussion / I miss you guys (and gals)
« on: September 19, 2012, 01:46:25 AM »
The good news is that I'm finally settled in at a permanent job.  The bad news is that we just started the house hunt.......well, maybe that's good too.

At any rate, someday soon, Drereppi will be cursing you under her breath on a regular basis.  Just like the good old days.

Can't wait.

Nora

Sweet!

Sorry, international audience:

The Tebow the Terrible thing wasn't a serious post, it was something of an angry rant against an American Football player who is a very good athlete, but insists on playing the one position at which he has no chance of success.  And, for unknown reasons, people absolutely love him for it.

Oooooh.  New Idea:

I want to build a Wizard, but give him high STR and CON, and especially CHA!  With low INT. I want to give him all generic feats, nothing that will help him be a wizard.  I will never multi-class him, and I'll never give him any good spells.  And if possible, I want everyone to think he's a cleric.

And I shall name him Tebow the Terrible.

(NZ says: Pssst! Hey! Already been there. Well, except mine claims to be the best mage the world has ever seen. Oh, and surprisingly, he hasn't died yet. Also, I don't think you need approval for that... Unless Tebow the Terrible is a goblin?)

Alignment: CN
Deity: Sseth
Eyes: Golden
Hair: None
Skin: Dull Dark Red Dorsal, Light tan/yellow Ventral
Height: 7’2” (w/9’ Tail)
Weight: 318lbs
From: Oreme

Random Notes:
Formerly a servant of whichever Sarrukh Lich was awake in the ruins of Oreme, this Asabi scout has had his memories wiped clean by Illithid overlords who captured him and made him a prized thrall.  For years he labored in the underdark.  He was not used as a gladiator, but as labor. He was tasked with pulling heavy carts, or with placing the largest supports in place in mining or tunneling operations.  His earliest memories are from the day he escaped.  He was ordered deep into a mine to help move a particular cart, but there was a cave-in.  He was on one side, with a team of duergar miners, and his overlords were on the other.  The physical distance and the distraction caused by the mine were just enough to break the mind-flayer’s hold on him.  The miners were dead before they even knew what had happened, and Ssyrthys took their supplies and a large pick, and headed deeper into the mine, determined never to be caught again.
Ultimately, his long journey through the underdark brought him to the surface somewhere in the spine of the world. He is quite shy and avoids contact until he is quite sure he’s safe.  His covert lifestyle has made him more rogue than fighter, but he maintains both skillsets as much as possible.
He is trying to find some safe place to call home.  While he does not feel comfortable around people of any race, and he doesn’t even go close to cities, he has found that it is necessary to sell any items he comes across.  He is always willing to trade with traveling caravans, and, if he deems it safe, with small groups of adventurers.

The new Maces I've seen are much improved!

My suggestion (added to this thread from 2009) is that the Maces available to my characters (who tend to favor maces, in general) are quite....pathetic...compared to many of the other weapons available in the game, and I'd like to see some options that are more fitting for higher level mace-users.

There are some fine options for smashing the undead....but I'm not Van Helsing, I fight other stuff, too.

Thanks,

Norah Van Icky

I'd love to, but with graduation looming, and who knows what after that....I'd hate to commit and then not be able to follow through.

Player's Corner / Re: Bounty System Wishlist/Feedback
« on: April 25, 2012, 04:07:19 PM »
Sometimes the placement of the bounties is great, other times, it creates a one way ticket to death's door.

Bounties at the appropriate level are quite hard, in my experience.  Because I like a challenge, will methodically crawl through a dungeon that's pushing it a little for my char.  Thing will be going just fine until a bounty shows up alongside three ice giants and a winter wolf, (or whatever, you get the idea)  I'm 85/15 to handle the monsters, and I'm maybe 60/40 on the bounty, but against both at the same time?  Dead. Dead dead dead.

And maybe that's okay, because sometimes adventurers get mauled by unexpected masses of foes.

Just my 2 cents.

Player's Corner / Re: Server Status & Module Updates
« on: April 22, 2012, 03:39:46 PM »
As a Natural Resources Management Professional, I vehemently oppose the servers actions to reduce wildlife biodiversity in the forest ecosystem.  Bears and wolverines are vital predators in a complex food web and provide distinct ecosystem services for the dominant humanoid and badgeroid populations.  The absence of these species in the woodland ecosystem will have deleterious impacts on both flora and fauna.

--and yes, my next char will be a very angry ranger/druid.
