* Crafting menu has the edit armor and helmet options
* Paladins are missing some of their horse options
* Tailoring Model's default clothing is back to the red bathing suit

What's with the chop? I turned down all my graphics and everything, restarted, etc., and it's no different from when they're at max. Choppy.

I had that problem. I did a full reinstall and that fixed it, but it might work to drag your ini files to the desktop and start the game with a clean slate (they'll get re-created).

It turned out to be a video driver that needed to be updated. The option through Windows won't do it, you've got to go directly to the manufacturer's page and download it.

(I think I fixed it in the 080713b release, we'll know soon.)

Language processing is enabled for even the DM channel. Why?

DM's don't automatically understand all languages, but they should.

Referring to combat log. It doesn't say "Kiri is speaking in whatever" if I whisper (/w) it, even if another player is able to hear my whisper.

You should screenshot that.

Anyways, had some trouble with the new tailoring dummies.  Was working for a long time on one, then walked over to another, equipped armor to it, then equipped cloak to it, then tried to equip sheild to it and that's where the problem started.  No sheild visible on model, and changing appearance gave the error below, without making any sheild visible.

Languages: Thieves' Cant

It keeps cutting off our messages after some point in the translation, usually 24 or so letters over.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: Torin on July 30, 2008, 02:18:31 PM
Yarr, thats how Thieves' Cant is meant to be. Its a small & swift set of movements like tugging the ear or scratching the nose, etc, so you can't fit huge paragraphs of speech in it.

I think the language is mostly meant to be for quick commands / orders, or information sharing. Not so much actual talking between people.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: theMannequin on July 30, 2008, 02:47:33 PM
I think he's talking about the translation, which technically should come across complete.  Even if you're saying "I'm going to get something to eat" it should produce the full translation instead of "I'm going to get something" which I've seen in the past.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: Torin on July 30, 2008, 03:15:55 PM
Aye, thats what i mean. 'cause of Thieves Cant being small, short movements you can only fit a certain amount of characters into it. What he's describing is pretty much how its designed to be. You can only fit a few words into it.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: theMannequin on July 30, 2008, 03:49:42 PM
It's still confusing, it'd bring up the question "Get something to what? Food?  Drink?"  Which would actually come out as "Get something to wha".

Confusing as hell.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: Tails1879_ on July 30, 2008, 04:14:07 PM
It does make sense if it's only for a quick command or somesuch... Imagine trying to give a speech with it! XD

Wish there'd have been a bit more warning that it's limited, though, like, on the description.

Anyone know exactly how craft trap works?  The DC's for crafting, according to the text, aren't matching up with my skill and success rate.  It seems to be either 100% or 0% chance, though you do occasionally loose the components on a failed attempt as you are supposed to.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: tsunami282 on July 30, 2008, 11:33:55 PM
Thieves' Cant has a limit of 25 characters. That's a DMFI limit that's always been there I'm not gonna change it. If you want to say "I'm going to get something to eat", shorten that to something like "I get food now."

As for craft trap ... no idea. Moth might know. But it's also entirely possible I broke it all to hell when I updated to CEP 2.1, since it has a crafting system built in. I don't know how either of them work. Does anyone?

Post by: jcly kite on July 31, 2008, 01:01:48 AM
I took a look at the crafting scripts on Lotn. It looks like instead of a random d20 Craft Trap roll in order to create the trap in question, you automatically Take 10. So, you automatically succeed if you're within 10, but you also automatically fail if you aren't within 10.

The DCs for the traps look like they're default - you can look them up on nwn wikia or whatever.

Edit: On a second look, it's notable that this change was made in the include file, x0_inc_skills. So, depending on when the actual craft scripts were compiled, this may or may not be accurate. It's possible they may just be outdated and all need to be recompiled (I think there are like 5 for crafting traps, 1 for each difficulty).

Also I think we need a place to buy quartz crystals nudge nudge. I couldn't find them anywhere >.>

Did you look at a copy of the module built after July 12? Because that's about when I updated to 1.69 and CEP 2.1. If you're looking at anything prior to that, there's no guarantee that those scripts are still in place and used.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: jcly kite on July 31, 2008, 03:27:12 AM
Yeah, I was looking at the July 20 one.

On a third examination I think those scripts are running properly. They are just slightly modified from the default system.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: machmoth on July 31, 2008, 06:40:54 PM
I think there really is no modification aside from the d20 roll becoming a take 10.  Never got around to making it right.  The main problem is how the default system handles material loss.  Because it can't tell by how much you failed your roll, it just rolls a percent chance of losing them if you fail.  It's pretty silly, especially with a take 10 adjustment.

I think the take 10 came about because people got frustrated sitting there and rerolling for something they just wanted to make a few of, because traps just aren't all that to be worth that kind of time and effort.  A couple people moaned that they didn't like the 10, because they "wanted the chance at doing better," and didn't mind the rerolling if it came with a reward.  I forget what I said I was going to do to it and didn't, but I suppose I can either:

a) Remove material loss and change the dialog to say things like "Craft Trap Skill 5" instead of "DC 15".

b) Change it back to the default d20 roll and let the persistant rollers have their Deadly level traps at level 10ish.

I didn't think it was a bug, or at least it hasn't been. It's one of the risks of boosting your health, or polymorphing.

If you unshift, shift into something with less health (Not in the case of NWN!), or lose health/constitution in general, you could die simply by 'System shock', where health hits 0 or below. I've had enough characters over the years die due to unshifting with little to no health, haven't heard someone manage it with spells though.

If anything, the only 'fix' would probably make it give only temporary HP instead of Constitution.

Post by: Gossamer Faith on August 03, 2008, 03:34:33 PM
It makes sense.  After all, if you've got 3 hp left and endurance running, you're living on borrowed time.  You SHOULD die, when the spell runs out. =D

Post by: jcly kite on August 03, 2008, 03:53:06 PM
When you gain CON, you gain HP. When you lose CON, you lose HP. If this loss in HP would cause you to die, then you die.

Yes, you can literally wake up dead - or is it just a bad dream?

(Since rest is a good way to lose that extra Con)
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: tsunami282 on August 03, 2008, 08:47:19 PM
I thought Zodiac and OCC knew all about this. Zodiac didn't specify, I got the idea that there was some new bug.

So I'm gonna assume it's working like it always has and as designed, unless I get specific information otherwise.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: Zodiac on August 04, 2008, 01:06:10 AM
It's the endurance spell. When you rest it could essentially kill you because you'll have more HP than normal, thus causing system shock.

Example:

Player has 132 hp standard without endurance

Endurance casted gives player 150 hp

Player rests and loses the extra hp

system shock occurs and player ends up dead.

The game automatically takes all the extra hp away when the person rests and they end up at death's door.

that is the best way I can explain this.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: Gossamer Faith on August 04, 2008, 01:10:22 AM
That only happens if you go from 132 hp, to 150; and at the moment when you rest, you're at 18 hp or less.  It's supposed to work like that.  The extra HP awarded by the endurance spell are the last to go, when you take damage.  Meaning, you're living on borrowed time; when the spell effect dies out, if you've only got those borrowed hp, you die.
Title: 1.69 Things to Fix - For Tsu! <3
Post by: jcly kite on August 04, 2008, 02:28:00 AM
I don't really see any contradictions here. It's been described exactly how it's supposed to work. When you gain CON, you gain both maximum and current hit points. When you lose CON, you lose both maximum and current hit points. If losing those hit points would reduce you to a fatal hit point total, then you're dead.

It's most common when people rest with Endurance (since it's not unfrequent that you rest at low hp and have endurance on), but it can happen in any instance where your CON score is reduced. I've died in a similar fashion two other different ways. Once I de-equipped a con staff when I was at 1 hp (NOTE: THAT WAS A STUPID THING TO DO), the other time I got poisoned to like 4 con.

As an interesting side note, if you remove a con item and it kills you, the combat log says that the item killed you (eg Resilient Quarterstaff), not "Someone" or yourself.

It would happen more often, if Endurance had a normal spell duration.  But, it never got the duration tweak when the days got slowed, and so it lasts for a sickly long time.  Otherwise, people would be dropping dead at seemingly random intervals much more often.

Maybe we should fix it, huh.
