Ring Of The Wild Protector IV "too good to be true"?
« on: August 06, 2013, 02:42:33 PM »
A "Ring Of The Wild Protector IV" that my Lvl 10 Ranger obtained as loot will allow him to cast 3rd and 4th level Ranger spells even though he should not have access to those spell levels yet.

Is this a bug?

Should I just leave those slots blank until I level up enough to get legitimate access to those spell levels?

This is actually a 'bug' with NWN itself, not just to LotN. If I remember correctly, it also works for Druids, Clerics, and the arcane casters if the arcane ones have metamagic feats. I'd say go ahead and use the slots, since it's barely a gamebreaking bug.

You lucky bugger. I want one of those! XD

Naw, it's just a standard behavior for NWN. By default, classes with access to divine spells already know all their spells, they just have to earn the slots to use them. The game doesn't differentiate between having a spell slot and having sufficient levels in a class to cast a spell.
